Whitelock, Bulstrode. Memorials of the English affairs from the beginning of the reign of Charles the First to the happy restoration of King Charles the Second Volume III of an edition printed in 1853 – starts in March 1649 following the king’s execution, and continues up to March 1653, so taking in the Third Civil War and the battles at Dunbar and Worcester. Whitelock was an official of the Commonwealth, and compiled these notes after the Restoration. First published in 1682 after his death, so not a completely contemporary source.
