First Generation in the New World

1. DANIEL¹ DAVISON, was born in Scotland about 16302 and died at Hamilton, Essex, Massachusetts on 05 Dec 1693. He married at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, on 08 Apr 1657, MARGARET LOW,3 she died at Hamilton, Essex, Massachusetts after 1678.

Biographical Notes:
Dr. Millard, “found a good lead today. 17th century evidence that Daniel Davison of Ipswich was Scottish comes from a case where he accused Samuel Lomas of calling him a “Scotch rogue”. His wife Margaret testified in the same case4.
Margaret was the daughter of, THOMAS LOW and MARGARET TODD and was born about 1632 in Boxford, Suffolk, England. She died at Hamilton, Essex, Massachusetts after 1678.
Daniel Davison, was Scottish, and is a likely candidate to be a Scottish prisoner of war. 2 iii. SARAH² DAVISON, (Daniel¹), was born at Ipswich on 30 Mar 1660.6 She married at Ipswich on 26 Nov 1688, ANTHONY DIKE.9 An Abigail Dike signed a document for Mary Davison the widow of William Davison.10

2 iv. DANIEL² DAVISON, Jr., (Daniel¹), was born at Ipswich in 1662 and died at Stonington, New London, Connecticut on 17 Jan 1703 [1704]. He married at Ipswich on 28 Jun 1685, SARAH DODG[E].5

On 18 Jul 2016, Betty Davidson Hicks – wrote, “I have a new name for you of one who was exiled (one of he prisoner’s of war taken by Oliver Cromwell’s Army) on the Ship Unity to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was an indentured servant. His name was Daniel Davison. The information on him is in the book, “A History and Genealogy – The Davissons – Twelve Generatons –1630-1992 – Davidson – Davison-Davisson Families“. By Russell Lee Davisson. This book is well sourced. It is now out of print. It was published by McClain Printing Company, Publishing Division, P. Box 403, Parsons, West Virginia. 26287.”

Daniel Davison clearly has descendants in the States, whereas the Davison I found was dead and buried in a winding sheet paid for by the Ironworks Company by early 1651, so they must be different people.” ~ Dr Andrew Millard
