2. i. JOHN² HAMILTON (John¹) was born at Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts on 1 Mar 1667¹ and died at Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts on 9 Dec 1747.² He married at Concord, in 1697, HANNAH (POSSIBLY HAYWARD – not proven).³

He married at Brookfield on 23 Jun 1732, RUTH WHEELER, who was born at Brookfield on 23 Jul 1712 and died at Brookfield after 1780, the daughter of SAMUEL and JOANNA (WOLCOTT) WHEELER. Ruth Wheeler is also the descendant of Mayflower pilgrim Resolved White.

4. iv. MOSES HAMILTON, was born at Brookfield on 02 Jul 1744 and died at New Braintree, Worcester, Massachusetts on 10 Feb 1825.
4. v. JOHN HAMILTON, was born at Brookfield on 16 Nov 1747 and died at Wells, Vermont. He married, SARAH STONE.
Dawn Hance says on June 2, 2018 at 5:24 pm: “John Hamilton born 16 Nov 1747 . Rutland (VT) Herald Abstracts Tues 18 April 1826. Died at Wells: John Hamilton aged 80 , a hero of the French and Revolutionary Wars. John lived in Wells and Pawlet, VT with his children, some of which settled in Champlain, NY. He is in several censuses in those towns. I do not think he died in Champlain as reported. I have some more on his family in the two above mentioned towns.”The Elisha Hamilton that married Mary Smith resided in Tinmouth, Rutland,VT. I have written him up if you need this info. (Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2004.), 338. “HAMILTON, John (1668-1747) & Hannah _____ (perhaps had 1/wf Sarah); b 1697; Concord” [On the birth record for Joseph³ Hamilton in 1697, the TRANSCRIBED record says John and “Sarah” rather than “Hannah.” I believe I’ve seen a handwritten copy of the marriage record and Hannah is spelled “Hanah,” one could see how “Hanah” could be misread (from the original) as “Sarah,” and since we have NO record of John having a prior marriage with a “Sarah” I am not including her as a wife. I have added Joseph to the family of John and Hannah. [↩]
